8 Fall Routines for Great Health
Just about everyone we chat with is sad for summer to end but very ready to get back to a routine! How are you preparing for that fall transition, when schedules become more consistent and feeling good becomes a top priority? Here are my top 8 recommendations for quickly establishing a healthy routine!
1. Clean out the pantry and load it up with organic and GMO free snacks. Try things like pistachios, homemade trail mix, seaweed snacks, gluten free crackers and dried apricots. Did you know that GMOs are incredibly damaging for children and are pervasive as they hide in most processed foods via corn and soy derivatives? Thrive Market is an amazing resource for non-GMO and organic options! Look for organic corn and potato chips made without canola oil, which can really aggravate your gut.
2. Set up a large, bountiful fruit bowl and commit to filling it weekly with high fiber, seasonal fruits like apples, pears and peaches. Organic certification is important on these thin skinned fruits because pesticides on the skins are harsh on your gut lining. Also stock up on easy to peel fruits like clementines, bananas, pineapple, mangoes! A variety of colorful fruits add a wide range of vitamins to your diet and help boost immunity.
3. Try a month with minimal to no gluten. Gluten is inflammatory to our system, because glyphosate (which is sprayed on wheat crops right before harvest) is a terrible Monsanto pesticide that has infiltrated our market. We love this GF pasta, quinoa or rice noodles instead of regular pasta. We use Tamari, a GF soy sauce option, and we use Namaste or One to One baking flour to make our muffins and breads. Frozen foods like GF Amy’s Pizza, Krush Cauliflower Pizza, Steel Cut Oats, and Applegate Chicken Tenders are a few other GF staples in our house.
4. Try a KrushLifestyles Plan! Do you know how it feels to truly feel good? We make achieving this feeling easy. We prep, cook and label your meals for either delivery or pick up. All you have to do is eat, and we have set you up for success! You will feel a difference in just a few days. As your blood sugar stabilizes and your calories are balanced, your newfound energy will make you feel, truly, good.
5. Pack a lunch box bento box style! Packing lunch can be annoying and time consuming, but this fun packing style is easy and can be done the night before. My go-to combos are rice noodles, edamame, a sunflower butter pack and tamari OR greek style with crackers, olives, carrots, & feta cheese. There are endless bento box fillings to try! What about a monkey roll up: a tortilla with banana, sunflower butter, cinnamon and honey? Or see a deconstructed Buddha Bowl idea here!
6. We order our meats at home by the freezer full. Butcher Box and Acabonac Farmsboth have frozen delivery services. This makes it so much easier to rely on organic and grass fed proteins, and if you take the meat out in the morning, it’s easy to cook up for dinner for yourself or the family in the evenings instead of ordering high sodium, highly processed take out meals.
7. Pick a fitness routine and go after it every day. 30 minutes a day is a game changer. Here’s what I love and rely on: Flex Studio pilates, Virtual Yoga with Lauri Glass, Don Saladino fitness challenges, and weekly training with @TrainerBecca. It’s never too late to start and you’ll never regret sticking to a fitness routine!
8. Eliminate Toxins so your body doesn’t have to work so hard! Substitute a toxic cleaning spray with Good Green Cleaner Pods and the plant based 7th Generation products! Minimize radiation by turning your router off at night. Shop for products that reduce radiation exposure. Recently a lawsuit was won against the FCC for not adjusting radiation exposure guidelines to safe levels. In all we do, we go for low body burden choices everyday!
I hope these 8 tips help you and your family find routine and simplify healthy living! These tips and tools help me feel organized and confident as a mom that I am doing everything I can to set myself and my family up for lifelong health.
Here’s to small choices every day,
