Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions.

Do you have nutritional information for your menu items?

Yes, we have detailed nutritional information available for most menu items. Please consult our nutritional document here.

What does organic mean and what is ok’s relationship with organic food?

We KRUSH organic food! Organic Krush is committed to serving an organic food selection. All of our dairy, meat, fruits, vegetables, grains, and oils are certified organic, which is defined as (from the USDA):

  • Preserving natural resources and biodiversity
  • Supporting animal health and welfare
  • Providing access to the outdoors so that animals can exercise their natural behaviors
  • Only using approved materials
  • Not using genetically modified ingredients receiving annual onsite inspections
  • Separating organic food from non-organic food
What is the shelf life of cold-pressed juice?

The shelf life of cold-pressed juice is 4 days from bottling. This ensures that a living, fresh product is at its highest value. The date on the caps of our cold-pressed juice is the sell-by date. There are so many nutrients and because we do not pasteurize, the cold pressed juices are intended to be consumed by the sell date on the top of the bottle. For our wellness and immunity shots, the shelf life is 7 days because there is so much citrus in the recipe.

Do you deliver?

Yes! We are partnered with DoorDash for daily food delivery. For catering and juice cleanses there may be a delivery charge; call your local store manager to discuss.

Do you serve meat?

Yes, we serve organic, hormone-free, chicken, grass-fed grass-finished steak, Niman Ranch pork bacon (nitrate-free, hormone-free and antibiotic-free), and pasture-raised turkey. Our salmon is certified organic and our shrimp is from the Gulf, harvested sustainably.

Do you have options for vegans?

Yes, veganism—a lifestyle diet in which no dairy, meat, eggs, or fish is consumed—is a diet we can easily accommodate. We have salads, rice and quinoa bowls, tofu and an incredible selection of fruit and vegetables served raw, roasted, grilled, juiced and Krushed! We have nuts, seeds and a vegan protein powder by Garden of Life. We have smoothies and acai bowls. Our vegan menu offers many delicious suggestions.

Are you a gluten-free (GF) kitchen?

No, we are not a dedicated GF facility. We do have staff members with celiac disease and they are able to eat at Krush as we practice careful avoidance of cross contamination. We carry GF tamari, GF rice flour for baking, GF oats, GF pasta, and GF wraps, but we are not a gluten free kitchen as we do have whole wheat wraps and pasta in house.

What are GMO's?

Genetically Modified Organisms are food crops that have been engineered in a lab to receive the DNA of an unrelated plant or animal. This DNA can come from a bacteria, virus, insect, animal or human. Once accomplished in the lab setting, the crops (seeds) are produced en masse and then planted in nature. For example, most soybean plants in our country have had an herbicide inserted into their genetic makeup, which allows the soybean plant to resist Round-Up ready weed killer when the plant is sprayed. Another example is inserting a tomato with the gene from an arctic char fish. Fish do not freeze in winter therefore if the gene is inserted in the tomato, scientists can produce tomatoes that do not freeze in the winter.

Where does organic krush stand on the practice of genetic modification?

We are very worried about the practice of genetic modification. It is highly unpredictable and imprecise. We believe it changes a food’s innate value as well as burdens the body with pesticides and confusing, unnatural genetic components. We also believe GMOs have been the #1 leading factor in regards to the sharp growth in allergies and autoimmune diseases that our children (and adults) are facing in our country.

Do you use local farms?

We have started the exciting process of working with local farms. Our first partner is East End Apiaries. We have adopted a beehive and we use the honey in our baked goods, lemonade and iced teas as well as for retail purposes.

What is the difference between cold-pressed juice and other juicing?

Cold-pressed juice is a form of juicing that uses a slow grind to extract the juice, as opposed to high-speed friction which introduces a level of heat to the fruit and vegetables. Heat destroys nutrients and results in a less nutritionally powerful juice. We use an x-1 cold-pressed juicer to create our juices. We do not use High Pressure Pasteurization (HPP), as high pressure press destroys the good bacteria, which our guts rely on for a healthy biome.

What is a juice cleanse?

Juice cleanses are often used as part of a healthy lifestyle commitment to strengthening one’s immune system. They are often done at the start of each new season or when there is fatigue, stress or certain physical or digestive ailments. During a juice cleanse, a participant only consumes vegetable and fruit juices, which gives their organs a break from the tedious job of digestion. It’s extremely important that the juices be 100% organic and cold-pressed in order to flush your system with high quality nutrients. Some juice cleanses contain a small vegetarian meal, others are just juice. At Organic Krush we run 1-day, 3-day, 5-day cleanses. See our Juice Cleanse section for more information.

Do you carry meal plans?

Yes! We have a 3 day seasonal vegan meal plan that has become a customer favorite for weight loss and improved energy levels. The focus on vegan is to lower your body burden and help your immune system function at its best. In our 3 day meal plan we pack you up with the food and juices you need to comfortably get through your 3 days. Many customers continue eating this way for many months as it feels so energizing and satisfying to simplify one’s eating plan.

Is there sugar in your smoothies?

We use frozen and fresh whole fruits and vegetables in our smoothies. These contain fiber and natural sugars, which energize and fuel us properly. To blend the smoothies we can use water, orange or apple juice and nut mylks. Our nut mylks have zero grams of sugar. OJ and coconut water are considered added sugars so if you are watching your sugar intake feel free to substitute water or nut mylks (which have 20 calories per cup) in ANY of our smoothies. One of our smoothies uses a local honey and that can be eliminated as well since smoothies are all made to order.

Can meals in your restaurant be adapted for lower calories?

Of course! Most of our dishes (except for the Gourmet To Go, Cold Pressed Juices and Bakery) are cooked to order so you are able to customize if you need to remove a higher calorie aspect of the dish like a dressing, or oil, or vegetable that doesn’t suit you. Many of our guests are always swapping bases around, rice some days when they are very hungry, and lettuces on days when they wish for less calo
