Coffee Me
Johns Hopkins indicated that study after study has produced positive health indicators resulting from the moderate intake of coffee. Yes, I said moderate and I know that’s not a fun word. It’s important to, as in everything in life, drink coffee in moderation. Some potential consequences of over intake include raised blood pressure, trouble falling asleep, anxiety and increased heart rate. Since many of the benefits of coffee are not solely derived from caffeine, if it tends to make you jittery, you can opt for a decaf option and skip the shaky hands. You’ll still receive most of the antioxidants found in a fully caffeinated brew.
The antioxidants in coffee are bonkers! They are actually the number one source of antioxidants in the Western world. Antioxidants are excellent at reducing oxidative damage caused by free radicals. This can help prevent heart disease, certain cancers, strengthen your DNA, protect your liver, process glucose and potentially live longer. Coffee has also been shown to improve brain function including reaction time, vigilance, mood, mental function, energy levels and memory. It may not be magic, but it’s my magic.
If the caffeine is too much, I completely understand. I am an espresso girl myself, but I know that can be too bitter for some. If it’s not your favorite flavor, adding some coffee to a delicious smoothie, like Organic Krush’s Mexican Coffee smoothie is a great way to scoop those benefits and avoid that bitter taste. Try to work it into your routine in moderation somehow, anyhow you like it best. With through the roof antioxidants it’s a real warrior against inflammation and so many other health ailments. Keep it in your fight for your wonderful healthy life, you beautiful little cappucino.
