Hydrate the most effective and delicious way (and nix the soda)
Do you find yourself craving soda, fruit juice, or sugary iced tea more in the summer than any other time of year? As we always say at Krush, your cravings are not a coincidence. It is incredibly easy to become dehydrated during the summer, and what often comes along with dehydration is a blood sugar drop, explaining why you’re not just thirsty but itching for something with a sugar kick.
When you begin to feel this way, the worst thing to do is grab a soda, especially a diet soda, but really any soft drink. Soda often contains caffeine, a diuretic that will cause further dehydration. Soda is packed with sugar and sodium, which cause dehydration. Diet soda is filled with artificial sweeteners like aspartame, which create gaps and holes in your gut lining and are linked to cancer. You get the point.
Our favorite hydrating combinations are sliced strawberries + basil, cucumbers + mint, and orange + shaved ginger. Get creative with your favorite flavor combinations! Keep your fruit mixtures in a glass pitcher with ice right on your countertop. When it’s in front of you, you are much more likely to consume it! Plus, the pitchers are so beautiful and the flavors continue to come out when they have time to seep. Happy hydrating!
