OUR STORY

In August of 2014, Fran and Michelle decided it was time to follow through on a conversation they had been having for quite some time: the possibility of opening a healthy eatery where they could get a healthy lunch, organic coffee and a family dinner they would feel good about serving their children.

A month later they found their spot—108 Woodbury Road, a large space filled with natural light. A lease was signed and they started making plans. First step: Who would cook the food? While they both love to cook healthy for their families, neither had the experience to cook for a restaurant. It was time to find a chef… With minimal convincing and much enthusiasm, chef James Tchinnis, founder, and owner of Swallow Restaurant came on board. He took their ideas and brought them to the next level of craftsmanship.

Within weeks a menu was built along with a plan to master the intricate process of cold-press juicing. Nine months later, on May 8, 2015, Organic Krush opened its doors to the love of a passionate community and the founders’ incredibly supportive families.

Michelle, Fran, and James each had their own path in life, but it’s as a trio that they built this organic community concept based on food, juice and love.

MEET OUR FAMILY

Organic Krush is made of three different families who have come together with one common mission: to bring healthy organic eating to our family, friends, and community. We believe the health of our family is connected to the food we eat and the lifestyle we lead.

THE PANICCIA’S

Likely the most active family (lacrosse, tennis, soccer) on Long Island, the Paniccia kids eat and work at Organic Krush. They can be found devouring the Fat Albert ( just ask!), the Chop Salad and açai bowls. Fran is an OK founder and our #1 granola tester!

THE TCHINNIS

The youngest and sweetest kids in the bunch, the Tchinnis kids were instrumental in developing OK’s smoothie recipes and açai bowl topping choices. Their palates rival those of their mom and dad! Chef James Tchinnis is an OK founder and our executive chef.

THE WALRATH’S

Organic foodies since their first bite, the Walrath kids now love chicken Ceasar salad wraps, quesadillas, grass-fed steak, the St Barth’s smoothie and homemade Krush OJ. Michelle is an OK founder and organic extremist.

OUR SOURCING

TUNA

We only use canned skipjack tuna from Wild Planet. We have certain priorities when sourcing tuna; it must be 100% sustainably caught, have the lowest mercury content and be packed in BPA-free cans. Wild Planet is able to deliver all three.

SALMON

Clean Fish is our source for certified Organic salmon direct from the lakes of Ireland. They care about the environment, the sustainability of fish and clean eating. Once your try our salmon dishes you will know why we choose Clean Fish.

SHRIMP

Our shrimp is wild caught in the Gulf of Mexico and delivered to us fresh via Gra Bar, Inc. All of our shrimp is chemical free and handpicked from the market to ensure we are receiving the highest quality shrimp possible.

CHICKEN

We use organic certified chicken from Free Bird farm. This farm provides the highest level of organic care. Birds are fed a diet free from GMOs, are free to roam and live in pristine conditions. We are thrilled with the taste and quality.

EGGS

Our eggs come from farms in Pennsylvania and are certified organic by the USDA. The poultry is raised cage-free with access to the outdoors and are fed organic feed making them antibiotic free.

STEAK

Joyce Farms provides the grass-fed beef we proudly serve. Their “Heritage Beef is pure beef”, free of hormones, antibiotics, pesticides, and preservatives. It is so delicious and tender it will turn even the most discerning palates around.

TRANSPARENCY MATTERS

We are continually striving to source all of our food products and kitchen items organically.
Currently, some items do not exist as an organic option; others are a work in progress.

OUR PHILANTHROPY

From the non-profit events we participate in locally to the way we source ingredients on a larger scale, our commitment to the communities we serve is an integral part of strengthening our food system from the ground up. This means sourcing organically and sustainably from our proteins to our coffee to our compostable and recycled-content utensils and plate ware.

We donate food waste to local food pantries, and on a national scale, we regularly support the No Kid Hungry campaign (nokidhungry.org), which connects kids in need with nutritious food and teaches their families how to cook healthy, affordable meals. The campaign also engages the public to make ending childhood hunger a national priority.
