One of my goals this year is to be more mindful, to live more in the here and now. For years I have toyed with, even attempted to add meditation into my daily routine to no avail. I’ve always been a practicing yogi and considered myself pretty zen.
Sometimes I can be a lazy eater. In the past, this has meant a lot of mindless snacking. What I’ve found is with some preparation and light planning, this useless behavior can be averted, or at least, more thoughtfully diverted.
It is no secret that this year has been tough on all parties involved, which is everyone. Be proud of however you got through. You are a rock star! This is a time when people set goals: weight loss; health; milestones.
This pandemic has hindered many of our normal routines. With so many of us home, working, living and trying to thrive, it can become difficult to keep some structure to our days, and in particular, our eating. It is not uncommon to find yourself in a snack-tastrophy, a sna-pocolypse, a snack-foo, okay I’ll stop, but you get the picture.
It’s important to take time and listen to your body. What do you need? I’ve often found that when I’m lacking some vitamin or nutrient, my body will crave certain foods. While I was pregnant I craved spinach. The baby growing inside needed folate to help with his development, and I was eating spinach like a maniac.
